Application Penetration Testing

Applications are the most common attack target: they are internet-facing and hold the data attackers want. We test web applications, their APIs, and mobile clients individually or as one connected engagement, because vulnerabilities often emerge from how components interact.

Web Application Testing

We look for data exposure, identity and session abuse, privilege escalation, and unauthorized access to or manipulation of data.

  • Reconnaissance & information gathering

We identify information exposed through headers, DNS records, application behavior, and public sources.

  • Configuration & deployment

We check for exposed admin panels, old backups, unprotected configuration files, and unsafe deployment settings.

  • Identity & authentication

We examine password policy, lockout behavior, registration, default or test accounts, and account recovery.

  • Authorization

We test privilege boundaries, path traversal, and access to restricted records, files, functions, and resources.

  • Session management

We assess cookie security, CSRF defenses, timeout behavior, session fixation, and logout handling.

  • Input validation & injection

We test for XSS and SQL, LDAP, XML, and command injection, including HTTP response splitting.

  • Error handling

We determine whether errors reveal technical details or sensitive information an attacker could use.

  • Cryptography

We review TLS configuration, protocol choices, and the strength of cryptographic protections in use.

  • Business logic

We look for workflow bypasses, skipped steps, unsafe file uploads, and ways to misuse intended functions.

  • Client-side security

We test unwanted JavaScript execution, DOM and HTML manipulation, redirect abuse, and local storage handling.

API Testing

APIs are their own attack surface. A flaw invisible in the user interface can be directly exploitable through REST, GraphQL, SOAP/XML, or system-to-system integrations.

  • Object-level authorization / IDOR

We change identifiers to test whether one user or tenant can reach another party’s data or actions.

  • Property & function authorization

We test mass assignment, hidden fields, and whether regular users can call administrative functions.

  • Authentication & token handling

We assess OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT validation and signing, expiry, revocation, exposed keys, service authentication, and mTLS.

  • Input validation & injection

We test SQL and NoSQL injection, command injection, insecure deserialization, XXE, and inconsistent validation between endpoints.

  • Resource consumption & rate limits

We examine unbounded requests, bulk actions, pagination, and GraphQL depth or batching abuse that can enable denial of service or enumeration.

  • SSRF & internal exposure

We test whether user-supplied URLs can make the service reach internal systems or unintended destinations.

  • Inventory & versioning

We look for undocumented shadow endpoints, obsolete zombie versions, exposed documentation, and GraphQL introspection.

  • Configuration & exposure

We assess gateway, CORS, and TLS setup, verbose errors, sensitive logging, missing headers, and exposed administration or monitoring interfaces.

  • Business logic abuse

We test step-order bypasses, price, quantity, and state manipulation, replay of one-time actions, and race conditions.

What we need from you

  • API documentation

OpenAPI or Swagger files, a Postman collection, or at least an endpoint list. We can test without it, but coverage is much stronger with it.

  • Test accounts

Ideally two accounts for each user role and accounts in at least two separate tenants, so we can verify cross-account authorization properly.

  • A representative environment

A staging environment that matches production where possible. For production tests, we agree the window, whitelisting, and incident process in advance.

Mobile Application Testing

Testing focuses on platform-specific weaknesses: insecure on-device storage, abuse of inter-app communication, weak protection of sensitive data, and unauthorized access to app functionality.

  • Architecture, design & threat modeling

We map backend communication, sensitive data flows, trust boundaries, and application entry points.

  • Data storage & privacy

We inspect databases, preferences, keychain or keystore use, logs, clipboard, backups, and caches for exposed sensitive data.

  • Cryptography implementation

We review algorithm choice, key strength and storage, and custom or non-standard cryptography.

  • Authentication & sessions

We test login bypass, 2FA and biometric controls, brute-force resilience, session hijacking, token storage, logout, and session validity.

  • Authorization

We check for privilege escalation, role manipulation, and access to higher-privilege functions or data.

  • Network communication

We assess TLS, certificate validation and pinning, man-in-the-middle resilience, and behavior on untrusted networks.

  • Platform interaction

We review permissions, sandboxing, IPC, intents, deep links, URL schemes, universal links, and root or jailbreak detection.

  • Reverse-engineering resilience

We assess decompilation, embedded keys and secrets, repackaging, obfuscation, tamper checks, debugger detection, and resistance to dynamic analysis.

  • Client-side security

We test WebViews, overlay attacks, CORS behavior, and local data handling.

  • Business logic

We look for skipped steps, limit or discount abuse, and fraudulent transaction paths.

  • Server-side & API security

We test backend authorization, input validation, rate limiting, and server-side business rules supporting the app.

Technical depth behind every engagement

Our testers hold certifications including OSCP, OSWP, CRTO, CEH, and AWS Security Specialty, among others. Our in-house team delivers 200+ penetration tests annually across 9+ industry sectors.

A clear process from scope to retest

You know what is happening, who to contact, and when to expect each deliverable.

  1. 1

    Scoping

We confirm targets, objectives, access levels, exclusions, and the compliance requirement the test supports.

  2. 2

    Kickoff & rules of engagement

We agree communications, safety limits, test accounts, escalation contacts, and the incident process before testing begins.

  3. 3

    Testing window

Our specialists combine manual techniques with automated tooling. Critical findings are reported immediately, not held for the final report.

  4. 4

    Written report

Each finding includes evidence, remediation guidance, CVSS scoring, and a real-world exploitability assessment for your environment.

  5. 5

    Follow-up consultation

A free session with our technical team explains the findings, business impact, and practical remediation options.

  6. 6

    Retest

We verify completed fixes and document the result so you can show auditors and stakeholders what changed.
